Notes
  • Unguided exposures using TPoint model on Paramount MX.
  • Distance 5200 ly.
  • Radius 65 ly, much larger than the Orion Nebula (12 ly).
  • Open cluster of stars in the center (NGC 2244) were formed from the nebula’s matter in the last five million years. The gas surrounding these stars has a temperature of 6 million kelvins and as a result the stars emit intense amounts of X-ray radiation.
